The Artist

Born to South Korean parents in Toronto where she is based today, Krista Kim has lived in Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, and New York. Krista Kim is the founder of the Techism art movement, which calls for greater interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between innovators of the Tech industry and artists in order to create a more balanced culture of humanism through the arts in the digital age. Kim’s work is a response to our constant exposure to LED lights through our devices. Her work expresses digital consciousness and questions our current aesthetic principles. Kim is interested in digital technology and its revolutionary effects on human perception, media, social structures, and communication. She is based in Toronto and exhibits regularly in New York and Paris, and in art major fairs worldwide.

Utöpia Flag

From white flags for peace to the black flag of pirates, and the rainbow flag for pride, in the folds of the flag there is an almost magical power. From the legendary and conquering flags of history books to the Stars and Stripes planted on the moon, they move with the command of icons and trophies. One of the oldest forms of media in the world, the flag now occupies a renewed place in public space. This is increasingly true in virtual public and online social networks. As a new media, it invites us to raise our heads to the sky. The flags of artists have become vectors of communication.
